Sitting still all day at work can take a toll on your body and mental health. Finding 5 to 10 minutes once or twice throughout the day to move and do some of these exercises is a great way to clear your mind, get your blood flowing again and recharge to finish the workday strong.
1. Jump squats
Jump squats are great to get some feeling back in your legs after sitting at your desk for 8 hours.
Squat down with your arms by your sides and then jump up as high as you can reaching for the ceiling. Do ten or so reps and three or four sets with a one minute break in between sets.
Get on the ground in a pushup position, move from your hands to your forearms and clasp your hands together. keep your back straight and your neck aligned with your back. Hold this as long as you can.
You can do wide pushups, narrow pushups, pushups on your knees, leaning against your desk and even one-handed if you are up for it. Do a set of ten or so three or four times.
Lunges are great since they only require standing space and you don’t need to get on the ground.
Simply stand up straight with your hands on your hips or arms stretched straight out on the sides and step forward with one leg far enough to bend you knee 90 degrees and keep you back leg straight. Then step back and repeat with the other side.
Sits ups, sit-ups, and more sit-ups. Gotta get those abs nice and tight. Remember, abs start in the kitchen. Try adding a twist to one side alternating sides on each sit up.
6. Power walk
Sometimes all you need to break up your workday is to get outside, let some sunshine do its thing and go for a walk.
Stretching is so underrated. If you don’t know where to start when it comes to stretching go on youtube and search for a five or ten-minute stretching routine.
Take a break from your workday, all it takes is 5 to 10 minutes a couple of times a day to get a little exercise in. It will help your productivity and quality of life.
Stay fit friends!
